Top 3 Eau Claire Activities

If this is your first time to my blog page, welcome! I’m Dan Gjerseth, a long time resident of Eau Claire. I love Eau Claire! I am a Realtor so I help many people move from out of state to the Eau Claire area and felt like I should add some blog posts talking about my experiences: What I like, and what I don’t like about Eau Claire. That way you feel more prepared when YOU come here!
Alright, let’s hop in…
Music Festivals in Eau Claire
The first thing you should know about Eau Claire is that its very big into music festivals. There’s a huge variety of music genres. They include Jazz, Country, Rock, Pop, etc.
A few of the most popular music festivals in Eau Claire include Eau Claire Jazz Fest, Blue Ox, Country Jam USA, Rock Fest, and Country Fest.
I’ve been to Country Jam and Country Fest a few times. If you like to party, this is the place! Even if you don’t party that much, they’re still a blast. In 2019 I worked backstage (A lot harder work than I had anticipated) at Country Jam. This was quite the experience as I got to set up and be elbow to elbow with some famous singers including Keith Urban, Toby Keith, Jake Owen, and a dozen other country stars!
Also, I should note that during the summer every night there’s live music at Phoenix park (you must go to this!). Its fun. The best part is that its nearby a couple ice cream shops nearby so you can stop and get some ice cream and enjoy the shop.
Breweries around Eau Claire
So if you like breweries, there are some great ones around Eau Claire. Some of the more popular ones include the Brewing Projekt - I love this one because you can bring your dogs in!!
Another great brewery which is right down the road from the Brewing Projekt is The Lazy Monk Brewing. Both the Brewing Projekt and Lazy monk brewing are in old historic buildings so the mixture of great beer + historic ambiance really makes it a great experience!
The third brewery is in Chippewa Falls - Leinenkugel’s Original Brewery. I love this place because of the history in the Chippewa Valley. Its also the only brewery that offers brewery tours and its definitely worth doing!
So maybe you don’t like breweries but you like wine or spirits more, go check out infinity beverage on the south side of Eau Claire then go check out K-Point Brewing next door!
As far as wineries, around Eau Claire a couple of my favorites are Harvestime Winery and Bemis Bluff winery. Both of these places won't disappoint and have beautiful scenery!
Outdoor activities
Lastly, my favorite thing to do with my free time is to spend time outdoors! Wisconsin is well known for their outdoor activities, especially the amount of lakes and woodlands. I spend most of my free time hiking with my doggo out at Lowes Creek in Eau Claire or at Northwest Park which is near my office.
If you love spending time on the lake, Lake Wissota is the most popular Lake around Eau Claire. Lake Altoona is a hot spot in the summer too. Both of these lakes have well kept beaches with spots for grilling out and picnics.
If you want a quiet lake, go to Lake Eau Claire (right down the road from where I’m from). This is about 30 minutes East of Eau Claire and is far enough away from town where it wont be overcrowded.
If you like camping, O’neil campground is a great place to go. My favorite campground is Coon Forks Campground just a little outside of Eau Claire in Augusta. There are two beaches at this campground and its a non-motorized lake so its quiet and great for fishing.
I hope you enjoyed my blog!
Best,
Dan Gjerseth
